Bishop Joseph S. Brooks, Sr.—Visionary, Leader, and Founder of New Hope Christian Ministries—is a servant of God called and anointed to carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. His life’s mission remains steadfast: proclaiming the transformative power of God’s love and the glorious freedom found in deliverance from sin.

By Divine appointment, Bishop Brooks followed the faithful path paved by his parents, Overseer Moses Brooks and Pastor Aretha Brooks. It was under their godly guidance that he embraced his holy calling and stepped into gospel ministry.

A dynamic leader of high integrity, profound vision, and shepherd’s compassion, Bishop Brooks offers the true remedy for a hurting world: salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. His ministry reaches across denominational and social boundaries to promote reconciliation, healing, and redemption. Endowed with a heavenly anointing to preach and teach, his message penetrates the hardest of hearts, captures the attention of the restless, and reassures the broken that God is faithful to save all who come to Him. Through his labors in the vineyard, countless souls are discovering their divine destiny and advancing the Kingdom of God.

Before his elevation, Bishop Brooks faithfully served the House of God in numerous capacities, including Minister of Music, Sunday School Superintendent, Men’s Coordinator, and Worship Leader—always stepping forward wherever the Spirit led.

A native of Williamsburg, Virginia, Bishop Brooks earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies from Fredericksburg Bible Institute in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  He received his Master of Biblical Exposition from Andersonville Theological Seminary and is currently enrolled in the Epistles of John Doctoral Program at Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia.

Alongside him in life and ministry is his beloved wife of more than 47 years, Pastor/First Lady Shirley Brooks. God has abundantly blessed their union with three children—Jay, Steven, and Sidney—as well as grandchildren. Reflecting the true heart of Christ, Bishop and Pastor Brooks have also lovingly served as spiritual and surrogate parents to many children within the church and surrounding community.

Pastor, Dr. Shirley Brooks, A native of Roanoke, VA., is the wife of Bishop Joseph Brooks and Pastor/First Lady of New Hope Christian Ministries. She has served in several capacities as an exemplary leader and an example of a virtuous woman.

Dr.  Brooks received her undergraduate degrees from Virginia State University, Petersburg, Virginia (Bachelor of Science, Business Education – Cum Laude) and Fredericksburg Bible Institute, Fredericksburg, Virginia (Bachelor of Theology).  She received her Master of Religious Education from Fredericksburg Bible Institute, Fredericksburg, Virginia and her Doctor of Ministry from Andersonville Theological Seminary, Camilla, Georgia.

Currently, Dr.  Brooks lends her service and talent to many areas. She serves on the Board of Directors for New Hope Christian Ministries, and she is the head of several ministries and organizations.

Dr.  Brooks has honed her skills in the capacity of First Lady-God has given her the gift, and she has mastered the art of church administration and the significance of Christian education. While serving as First Lady at New Hope, Dr.  Brooks has assisted her husband and pastor in birthing ministries in the church and founded WISDOM: Women In Spirit Dedicated to Our Ministry; a women’s ministry that works to teach, encourage and guide women to a more intimate relationship with Christ and to advance the Kingdom of God through service within and beyond their inner circles.

Dr. Brooks’ mission is to win souls for Jesus Christ, bring reconciliation to those who have strayed away and minister to the special needs of women.

Our church family is reflective of Acts 2:42, which is seen as a basic statement of church activity: “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  As a church family we:
